A study conducted by Dr. Uchida et al was published in the Journal of Psychosomatic Medicine (Japanese journal). The title of the article is "Effects of flower arranging and appreciation on autonomic nervous system function, muscle hardness of the shoulder, and psychological healing", and the purpose of the study was to clarify the effects of flower arranging and appreciation. It was found to activate the parasympathetic nerve function, reduce muscle hardness in the shoulders, resulting in the healing in both psychological and physiological aspects.
